It's a yum-yummy world made for sweethearts,
Take a walk with your favourite girl,
It's a sugar date, what if spring is late,
In winter, it's a marshmallow world.
How can you resist the smell of Kilwin’s warm sweet aroma of chocolate, fudge and fresh homemade waffle cones as you walk up Main Street? You can feast your eyes as you watch their creamy Mackinac Island fudge being paddled the traditional way on marble tables as you’re licking your cone. Kilwins also has its secret original ice cream recipe! And further up Main Street, you ask ‘what’s with the Penguins?
We at Chez Amis can't wait for this holiday season just to see the decorations! There is something special about small businesses and the care and ownership they take in their store windows! Come see for yourself, and shop!
Season 3 is here! Yippee! and just at the right time. I don't know how to say this without sounding selfish, but I am a closet Downton watcher. Hence why, therefore, tis is the best time of year for the much awaited roll out. It's January! Boats are out of the water, tourists and our guests are here to eat and eat well, or should I say 'dine well'. That means we have mutual intentions at the inn and that's just grand with me.
We were very fortunate here in Annapolis, as the storm didn't hit as hard as we had planned for. The eve before the storm I went down to the Dock and it was eerie...stores were boarded up and/or their windows were taped with a big X. Sandbags were placed on top of each other. Flooding was truly anticipated and with the high tide we surely expected City Dock to be under water. We were lucky. Many were not. I heard today on the news, from the Secretary of Homeland Security, that the storm was as big as Europe!
I vividly remember my innsitting debut at the impeccable Blue Door Inn in Baltimore arriving with my clipboard in hand. What caught my eye were these 2 baggies full of what looked like paste. The innkeeper Roger orientated me on the House as my eyes wandered off to 'those 2 baggies', Well as Roger finally got to the bread instructions my anxiety increased. Day 1,this, Day 6 mix, Day 10 bake...Yowza. Well, I couldn't find Roger's electric mixer so I hand stirred everything patiently and well it was a partial success as the bread turned out a little lumpy.
